The 2021-2026 F-150 is available with three bed lengths, and getting fitment right matters more than most buyers expect. Here’s how to confirm you’re ordering the correct cover for your truck.

Know Your Bed Length First

Measure from the inside of the tailgate to the inside of the bulkhead (the front wall of the bed), not the outside of the truck. The F-150 comes in 5.5-foot, 6.5-foot, and 8-foot bed configurations, and tonneau covers are built specifically for each.

Why Fitment Errors Happen

  • Ordering based on cab style instead of bed length (SuperCrew can come with either 5.5′ or 6.5′ beds)
  • Assuming universal fit — most tonneau covers are model-year and bed-length specific
  • Not accounting for bed rail changes between generations

2021+ Bed Rail Changes

Ford updated the F-150’s bed rail design starting with the 2021 model year. Covers designed for 2015-2020 trucks generally will not fit correctly on 2021-2026 models, even if the bed length matches. Always confirm the listing explicitly covers “2021+” or “2021-2026.”

Special Cases

Trims like the Tremor, Raptor, and the F-150 Lightning may have unique bed features (trail control components, tie-down systems, or bed dividers) that affect certain cover models. See our Best Tonneau Covers for F-150 Tremor / Raptor / Lightning guide for trim-specific picks.

Quick Fitment Checklist

  • Confirm exact bed length (5.5′, 6.5′, or 8′)
  • Confirm model years 2021-2026 compatibility
  • Check for trim-specific notes if you own a Tremor, Raptor, or Lightning
  • Verify power tailgate compatibility if equipped
